Many organizations have adopted Intranets to improve internal communication, business processes and sharing of company knowledge. A Twitter feed could be a great addition to keeping your Intranet up to date. If you’re a CEO or department manager, you could use Twitter to broadcast to your team your thoughts, ideas, company news and events. This could be a great way to keep your team on the same page with what is going on in your place of work.

Twitter maybe a great avenue to spread your word, include others and create a sense of solidarity. For instance there are a number of applications out that enable Twitter for online petitions. No more signatures! Just Tweets!! And the great thing is that everyone will no how much momentum is behind your cause by simply looking at your total followers and tweets. Act.ly is an example such an app.

Who are you? And why are you following me? By completing your bio you let others know who you are. This adds credibility to your name and your tweets. The bio is the only place where this information can be told. It is also used by Twitter on their Suggested Users page.

More and more trends are showing a great attraction between online consumers and their favorite brands. What’s even more important is how that engagement is encourage purchase decisions. So post that free offer on Twitter and don’t forget to add another 10% for me.

There are many plugins and extensions available online that will enable automatic posts from your web site to your Twitter page. For example, this site is built using Wordpress. But I also have an account with Twitter Feed. Now my web site is linked to my Twitter account. So each time I post a new article it automatically gets posted to my Twitter page.

Or send private tweets to specific individuals. The important thing is to keep the channel open for conversation. Invest time either daily or weekly to post what’s going on with you and your business to let people know you’re out there. Once you go go silent people lose interest and will stop following you. Bad!
