There is nothing more confusing that a person sending me Tweets and I haven’t got a clue why. As you look at your shiny new Twitter account it’s best to decide why you are using it. Some reasons may include:
- Promote myself as a brand: as a thought leader, expert in my field
- Promote my corporate brand: engage other Twitters that may have a use for my product or service, get some market feedback on what my company does, post news and events regarding my company
- Self expression: send good out karmic-tweets in the form of poetry or a song, self improvement advice you don’t live by or philosophical quotes from people you don’t know
- Be the all-knowing Internet Oracle: you’ve wisely setup a feed to your Twitter account to automatically post news articles from around the world. So that you appear as the most knowledgeable being in the world. I don’t get this one so much.
Honestly, you could be a combination of all. I would say having an idea of what you want to use Twitter for will add credibility to what you put there. Happy tweeting.
