With all the options to get social out there, how do you begin? Needless to say before you dive into social media it is important to understand what your goals are first. If you’ve done your homework then you should have some clarity on how you should use social media sites and networks to your advantage.
Here are 5 ideas on how you could use social media in your marketing strategy. This is by far not an exhaustive list. But it should get your juices going on getting more social.
1) Twitter
Use your Twitter feed to update followers of recent press releases, site updates, local events, and product updates.
2) Facebook
Create a fan page for non-marketing purposes. Don’t direct sell your product or service. Announce a networking or public service event. Do something your people can get behind besides what you do.
3) LinkedIn
Join a business community with similar interests to find new employees or potential business partners.
4) YouTube
Create videos of client testimonials, recent speaking engagements or product demos and broadcast the link on your web site, blog, Twitter feed or Facebook page.
5) Blogging
Create a blog to present your ideas, findings, and industry trends. Open comments to foster conversation and idea generation from your readers.
6) Consumer Review Sites
Research customer review sites like Yelp.ca, Ourfaves.com or ReviewBlue.com to see what past customers are saying about your business. You will feel great to hear all of the unsolicited testimonials from past customers. But you can also learn what you need to improve from bad reviews.
7) Slideshare
Teach people what you know with a slide presentation on SlideShare. It’s a good way to share a bit of your knowledge while adding credibility to your business.
